Watch: 5 Inspiring Videos to Jump Start 2016
As 2016 is just around the corner, we are about to start our 'Search for the Happy Grail'. As a good start of the new year, we'd love to inspire you with five videos that will make you rethink the current way of working. Enjoy!
1. Start failing!
Funny, energetic and thought provoking. In this talk, Eddie Obeng tells us to stop avoiding failure. We try to control and plan every aspect of business even though the world around us has become too complex to predict and control. The only way we can innovate and learn in this fast-changing world is to fail smartly!
2. Reinventing Organizations
This video summarizes the groundbreaking book of Frederic Laloux called 'Reinventing Organizations'. This book is a must read for everyone in business as it will make you understand the evolution of organizations over time. The book describes in more detail what the future of organizations will look like. Anyway, watch this video first and get inspired to read his book!

3. The happy secret to better work
In his TEDx talk, the author of 'The Happiness Advantage' describes the influence of happiness on our success at work. Shawn Achor describes that we believe that if we will be successful, we will be happy. "If we can just find that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. Surprisingly, Shawn shows that research has shown that this formula is actually backward: Happiness *fuels *success, not the other way around. When we are happy, our brains become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work".
4. Simplify work to increase happiness
Work has become so complex that the vast majority of the workforce has become disengaged. In this energetic talk, Yves Morieux descibes why we make our work increasingly complex and more important, how we can fight this. Be aware, after this talk you'll challenge all new processes and procedures in your organization!
5. Welcome to the participation age
Chuck Blakeman inspired us with this TEDx talk. In this talk he discusses a new business perspective called the participation age. In the participation age we value meaning and purpose above anything else, as opposed to the industrial age where money is the ultimate measure of success. He gives some great examples of companies that work in radically different ways and are extremely successful in doing so. This talk will make you rethink your work and inspire you to find extra meaning in your work in 2016.
