Why We Killed Four Rebels

Regular visitors to our blog will notice a change at the top of the screen. The header, which used to include a picture of the whole team, is not there anymore. So, why did we kill four rebels?

Corporate Rebels & Revolt

We’re doing many things to make work more fun—publishing a blog, writing a book, researching, giving presentations, running workshops and helping companies revolutionize the way they work. Combined, these increase our impact. But there’s more to be done—and we have more crazy ideas to pursue.

The most recent of these was the Revolt by Corporate Rebels. Let’s explain the difference between Corporate Rebels and Revolt once more.

Corporate Rebels continues to research pioneering workplaces, share the inspiration, and build the global movement to make work more fun. Revolt turns this into action. It works directly with clients to create highly engaging workplaces.

So there are now two separate companies—with a common purpose, but a different focus. There’s a distinction about who does what. Now, we want the website to mirror that more clearly.

Corporate Rebels

At Corporate Rebels we focus on three things:

  • researching pioneering workplaces
  • sharing the inspiration, and
  • building the global movement to make work more fun.

We bring these to life via our blog, the presentations and workshops. These are largely the domain of Joost and Pim. We publish posts twice a week. And we spend a lot of time in the writer’s cave, finishing the book.

Plus, we’re (mainly) the nerds researching these companies in detail and sharing the inspiration with clients and at conferences. And Joost, the nerdier one, continues work on his part-time PhD, as we seek to push the academic research forward.

We get great support from Ken. Ellen is our awesome intern who contributes to all the above activities. For example, she’s the mastermind behind the Rebel Events and arranges our workshops and presentations around the globe. Once she finishes her studies in July, she’ll join us full-time. Ken is our much beloved Aussie editor, mentor and friend. He polishes our English, from wherever he is in the world. Apart from him in Sydney, we’re mostly based in the Eindhoven office, The Netherlands.

Revolt

The Revolt team is more practical. They actually revolutionize workplaces, via coaching, advising and challenging. They transfer inspiration from our workplace pioneers to daily practice in new settings.

Revolt’s approach is an explosive combination of pragmatism, ruthless experiments and bottom-up change. It’s not about writing crappy reports. And it’s not about bullshit change programs. It’s about practical change in peoples’ day-to-day work. If you are interested in the radical principles they live by, check out Revolt’s website.

Revolt is run by Contact them directly. You won’t regret it.

This team is based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Blurred lines

In reality, the lines are blurred. We support Revolt. They support us. This is the big picture. To properly reflect this, we’re changing the page header back to a picture of just us two, and making some other small changes in the 'about' section.

Sorry for misleading you with our click-bait headline.

The good news is we didn’t actually kill anyone!
