Writing a blog is one thing. Writing a book is something else! (And let’s not predict writing a bestseller. That was just to get your attention!). Consider this. We have no book-writing experience, we are on an exciting adventure, and we are learning how to share the deep lessons learned in our 2.5 years of research.

While the writing process is important, it is only part of the journey. Other key aspects are design, title, subtitle and publishing strategy—just to mention a few. Fortunately, we have a great publisher for the Dutch version.

Now, we want to enlist the wisdom of the crowd. You are invited to get involved too! Here’s what we have in mind.

But first, a bit of background

The book describes our adventures as Corporate Rebels. It aims to be both an adventure book and a management book. It will be full of stories about workplace pioneers, our travels across the globe, no-nonsense trends, actionable best practices, and much more. In short: the highlights of 2+ years spent researching rebellion.

So, will you help us choose the best possible title, subtitle, and cover design? We’re sure the results will be better if you do. The winning ideas/tips will be acknowledged in the book and, of course, you will receive a first edition copy of the book.

1. Title

The title needs to be rebellious, eye-catching, bold, and a bit controversial. But it shouldn’t be over-the-top, juvenile, or cynical. It has to “grab people in the gut”, and make them curious enough to pick up the book.

To give you an idea, here are some titles that grabbed our attention and that we love:

  • 4-Hour Work Week
  • Maverick
  • The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck
  • Let My People Go Surfing
  • Moonwalking With Einstein
  • Screw Business As Usual

Not easy to match those, right? That’s why we need your ideas! Please drop them in the comments below.

2. Subtitle

A superb subtitle really adds something special. It clarifies, explains, sparks curiosity, or even confusion.

Some subtitles we love:

  • Let My People Go Surfing - The Education of a Reluctant Businessman
  • SEAL Team Six - Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper
  • No Excuses - Nine Ways Women Can Change How We Think About Power
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Powerful Lessons in Personal Change

Once again, help is much appreciated. We’d love to see your ideas in the comment section below.

3. Cover design

For the cover we aim for even more impact: something bold, eye-catching, and rebellious. Be creative, go nuts, and share any cool ideas you have. Do you also have design skills? Even better!

Drop us your ideas in the comment section below! Or in case of designs, send them to info@corporate-rebels.com

Book title 1

Connecting with publishers

For the Dutch version of the book we are working with publishing house Atlas/Business Contact. We still own all other language rights—and we are talking to Italian, Spanish, and US/UK publishers about other language versions.

If you have connections to any publishers who are not Dutch, we’d love to get in contact with them. To connect us, just drop us an email at info@corporate-rebels.com

Our aims? To spread the word on the Corporate Rebels and, simply, to make work more fun. We will talk to any publisher who would love to contribute to this.

GAME ON: We look forward to seeing your ideas and tips in the comment section below! Oh, and if you haven't pre-registered for the book yet: don't forget to do so here.
