I chair the Future Work Forum, a think tank addressing the major trends in work. I also run Wisework, a consultancy advising on new working practices. I've written books on the subject and spoken at many conferences.
I spent the first half of my working life in the IT sector as Director of HR for Digital Equipment in Northern Europe. I then set up the Future Work Forum at Henley Business School and ran that for 16 years investigating the major trends in working practices.
In 2011 I co-authored "Future Work" with Alison Maitland which was a best-selling business book and we updated it in 2014. Most recently I have published "500%: how two pioneers transformed productivity", a book co-written with Andrew Holm and Julian Wilson of Matt Black Systems. They tells the story of how they moved to a fractal organisation where all the employees run their own virtual companies.
As well as being interested in the way work is evolving as part of our lives I am fascinated by self-managing organisations and the impact on leadership.
