China entrepreneur with more than 10 years’ experience operating and founding businesses in China’s food industry. My activities began in 2009 when I set up ESB Shanghai, which is engaged in the import and distribution of various frozen food categories, including animal and lately plant-based proteins. Besides sales solutions, ESB offers various market expansion services for food companies entering China, incl. recruitment, HR management, customs clearance and market research.
Since 2016 we expanded to the areas of food safety, quality assurance and food system sustainability consulting, as well as industrial supplies for leading food manufacturers and F&B operators in China. Most recently, I founded Feast (www.feast-china.com), a strategic investment and brand-building company for high-potential food startups seeking access and sustainable presence in China. Feast’s 3 key focus categories cover alt/plant-based protein solutions, new drinking experiences and smart nutrition.
I am a German native and hold a BA degree from Davidson College in NC (USA) as well as a Master of Arts (MA) degree (Merit) from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). I speaks English, German, and Mandarin and spend my time between Shanghai and Duesseldorf, where I currently reside with my wife Melanie and our two children.
